SULLIVAN TO SEEK CITY COUNCIL RE-ELECTION
Councillor-At-Large Robert F. Sullivan has announced his
candidacy for re-election. Mr. Sullivan is seeking re-election
to the City Council because he believes in the future of
Brockton and knows that he has the energy, enthusiasm and
dedication to continue inspiring positive changes in the city.
Since his election in 2005, he has actively demonstrated to all
city-wide constituents that he has a real sense of commitment to
his elected office and to all residents of Brockton.
As a
husband, father and concerned citizen, Sullivan will continue to
be an independent voice on the City Council who possesses the
Leadership skills, Experience and Qualifications necessary to
achieve positive change for our “City of Champions”.
Mr.
Sullivan served as Council President in 2008, and was the former
Chairman of the both the Finance and Ordinance Committees. He
has previously served on the Traffic Commission, Public Safety,
and Accounts Committees. In addition, Councillor Sullivan is
the City of Brockton representative to the Plymouth County
Advisory Board.
He is
a member of the Ward One Democratic City Committee and the
Plymouth County Democratic League. He also served from
2003-2005 on the Brockton Planning Board. Prior to his election
to the Brockton City Council, Mr. Sullivan interned in
Washington D. C. with former Congressman Brian J. Donnelly and
at the Massachusetts State House with former State Senator
Michael C. Creedon.
Mr.
Sullivan believes that the upcoming election is about improving
the economic, educational, and public safety conditions of our
city. He has a vision for the future of Brockton as illustrated
by his advocacy of “Smart Growth Overlay District” and by
insistence last year that a Planning Department component remain
at City Hall.
During the current economic and financial challenges, Sullivan
hopes to create a climate of steady stability and future growth
in order to improve the lives of all citizens and business
owners. He strongly believes in fiscal responsibility and cost
containment and will continue to fight for the Senior Citizens
and Retirees.
As
evidenced in the numerous resolves that he has filed while a
member of the City Council, Sullivan understands firsthand the
concerns of Brockton’s families and businesses. He is and will
continue to be a strong opponent of the proposed Power Plant
within the city. As a parent and Brockton business owner, he
has a real stake in the future of Brockton and will continue to
offer a perspective on the City Council that will create
beneficial change.
Robert Sullivan is married to Maria (Luizzi) Sullivan, and they
have a son and a daughter.
He is
a life-long Brocktonian and is an attorney in the City of
Brockton and Town Counsel for Randolph (MA). He attended
Brockton public schools and graduated from Brockton High School
in 1988. He is also a graduate from Boston College (B.A.;
M.B.A.) and from the New England School of Law (J.D.). Mr.
Sullivan has previously worked at the Massachusetts State House
as Chief Legal Counsel to the Joint-Committee on Election Laws.
He is also a registered Massachusetts Real Estate Broker and a
Notary Public.
Mr.
Sullivan asks that the people of Brockton support his
Re-election candidacy for Councillor-At-Large. It is during
these difficult financial times that our City needs to Re-elect
a candidate with integrity, who is an independent voice to
continue serving as a Councillor-At-Large. Councillor Sullivan
represents the best of interests of all Brocktonians. If city
residents are interested in assisting on Sullivan’s re-election
campaign please contact him at 508-846-1208
